Struff vs Berrettini / ATP Stuttgart – After Zverev again disappointed his fans domestic audience will cheer for J-L. Struff in his attempt to reach the final. It is going to be a difficult task for the German given that his opponent is very good M. Berrettini, who still hasn’t lost a single set at this tournament.
Struff vs Berrettini begins 15.06.2019 at 13:00 CET
Right before ATP Stuttgart Struff reached the best rating in his career, which is the 38th place in the ATP list. We have to add that a lot was expected from him in the past but Struff simply couldn’t fulfil all those expectations, although in certain moments he played really well. Accordingly, Struff won no ATP titles in 10-year long professional career and he never played in the final of the ATP tournament.
It is quite clear that this match has special importance for him as there is no doubt that he wants to reach his first ATP final in front of domestic audience. The German made first better result this year at the tournament in Auckland where he reached the semi-finals and lost to C. Norrie. His next good result come from the Masters in Indian Wells where he reached the fourth round when he lost to M. Raonic. We need to add to this overview his result made at recently finished Roland Garros where Struff reached the fourth round when he faced N. Djokovic and lost.
We wrote about Berrettini’s results in one of our previous analyses when he had to face Russian K. Khachanov and now we will go through that match in better detail, as well as match of the previous round when Berrettini won D. Kudla 6-3, 6-3. We should say that Berrettini made a surprise against Khachanov since the Russian was regarded as a favourite to win but he utterly underperformed in that match. Berrettini played very good and was especially dangerous in his service games, when he fully dominated.
Situation was similar in the previous round against D. Kudla. The Italian never had to face break point in his service game, while on the other hand he had even seven break points out of which he used three. Besides, Berrettini dominated the statistics; he served better and had 10 aces, while at the same time he never made a double fault.
Struff vs Berrettini PICK
This is going to be the first match between the two players and if we judge by what we have seen this season Berrettini is rightly regarded as a favourite to win, however, Struff plays in front of domestic audience and is very determined to reach his first ever finals, which is why is fully justifiable to expect that he will give his maximum in this match. So, we expect Struff’s good resistance and since both players are good serves who so far had over 10 aces per match in Stuttgart there shouldn’t be too many chance to make a break, which automatically means larger number of games.
