South Korea vs. Senegal / International – National teams of South Korea and Senegal will have their last test before going to Russia on Monday. Their third ever head-to-head will be played at neutral ground in Grodig, Australia. Two previous matches were also friendlies and were played in South Korea capital, Seul; where they firstly drew 1-1 in 2006, while three years later the home triumphed by 2-0. Begins: 08.06.2018 – 16:00 CET
The South Koreans are in pretty bad shape ahead of next match with Senegal, given that out of last five matches they lost even three, drew one and won one, which is definitely not encouraging ahead of the World Cup in Russia, where they share the group with Mexico, Sweden and reigning champion of the world Germany. It is a very difficult group for South Korea, and very few believe that it can reach the knockout phase.
On top of it, the South Koreans played very variably the Asian qualifications and they qualified for Russia only in the last round when they ended up at the second place in their group, having just two points more than Syria and Uzbekistan. Manager Tea-Yong Shin is very worried after last two friendlies when his players lost at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina, and merely drew at neutral ground with Bolivia, so now against Senegal we should expect several changes in the starting line-up.
Probable lineups South Korea: Kim Seung-Gyu – Lee Yong, Oh Ban-Seok, Kim Young-Gwon, Hong Cheol – Ki Sung-Yong, Kim Min-Woo – Koo Ja-Cheol, Lee Jae-Seong, Son Heung-Min – Hwang Hee-Chan
Unlike South Korea, which is regular at World Cups, Senegal played the last time at the World Cup in 2002 right in South Korea and Japan, where žit reached the quarter-finals in their debut. Now, it is hard to expect from them to repeat the success especially as its opponents in the group phase are quite strong; Poland, Columbia and Japan, and on top of that its latest matches are not exactly reason for optimism.
After excellent work in the African qualifications for the World Cup, where Senegal won four and drew two matches which was good enough for the first place in its group, team led by manager Cisse drew three friendlies with not so strong opponents, while three days ago it lost to Croatia 2-1 away. Still, the match showed many good things too and now we expect to see the same starting line-up against South Korea.
Probable lineups Senegal: Diallo – Gassama, Koulibaly, Sane, Sabaly – Kouyate, Gueye – Sarr, Mane, Keita – Niang
South Korea – Senegal PICK
Having in mind that both national teams have underperformed in last friendlies we expect to play this one a bit more defensively and with an objective to not lose, meaning there shouldn’t be too many goals in the end.
Pick: under 2.5 goals
Odds: 1.58 at unibet (down to 1.55 can be played)
