Slavia Prag vs FC Sevilla / Europa League – There were several surprising results in the 1st leg of the round of 16 and the biggest surprise was draw in Seville. The Spanish team was regarded as a great favourite to win but the Czech pulled for them excellent 2-2 and now the situation is different. In the meantime both teams won in their leagues. The two teams met in Prague the last time in 2007 and Sevilla won by 3-0.
Slavia Prag vs FC Sevilla begins 14.03.2019 at 21:00 CET
No one gave Slavia much chance when it got Sevilla for opponent, however, the Czechs were outsiders in the group phase too as they shared the group with Zenit St. Petersburg, Bordeaux and Copenhagen but they nevertheless reached the knockout phase. They weren’t favourites against Genk in the round of 32, and especially not after 0-0 at home, but they exploded in rematch and won 4-1. That was good indicator what might happen against Sevilla and indeed they showed character. Slavia trailed behind two times but it managed to equalise both times. Although it is not a true measure of their quality we need to say that Slavia is leading team in the Czech championship and has won three previous matches with a clean sheet. They are going to be weakened with absence of suspended Coufal.
Probable lineups Slavia Prague: Kolar – Frydrych, Kudela, Deli, Boril – I. Traore, Soucek, Kral – Stoch – Masopust, Zmrhal
Sevilla had plenty of problems lately in La Liga and it finally managed to end the negative series with sound victory over Real Sociedad. It did a great job in the Europa League round of 32 against Lazio Rome as it won both legs, however, it failed to do so in the first one against Slavia. Perhaps they underestimated the opponent that is objectively far weaker team than Lazio, and they paid a price. That is why Sevilla will play now with full throttle but without injured Escudero. Goalkeeper Vaclik will most probably stay on the bench.
Probable lineups FC Sevilla: Soriano – Mercado, Kjaer, S. Gomez – J. Navas, Mesa, Banega, Promes – Sarabia – Ben Yeder, An. Silva
Slavia Prag vs FC Sevilla PICK
Slavia played bravely and did well in the 1st leg but it is questionable can they repeat that. They might get scared from chance they have, while on the other hand Sevilla has certainly learned the lesson, so we expect that the guests win and qualify for the quarter-finals.
