Game Olympiacos vs FK Krasnodar begins 21.08.2019 at 21:00 CET
Fact that the Greek championship starts no sooner than the next weekend poses no problem for Olympiacos as they obviously timed their form for the Champions League qualifiers. They didn’t have naive opponents in two previous rounds but they won three and drew one match. They haven’t received a single goal and that says a lot how good they were. They drew away with Plzen 0-0 in the second round and then decimated the same rival by 4-0 at home.
Turkish vice-champion Basaksehir was supposed to be a tougher rival, however, Olympiacos won the first match played in Turkey by 1-0, where goalkeeper Jose Sa defended a penalty in the very finish of match. In the 2n leg Olympiacos patiently waited for the rival to go for all-in or nothing and then scored two goals in the second half for a sound victory. Coach Martins sent the same line-up in both matches with Basaksehir, which was not surprising since number of players is injured, even six of them, where Christodoulopoulos is questionable for this one.
Probable lineups Olympiacos: Jose Sa – Elabdellaoui, Semedo, Meriah, Tsimikas – Bouchalakis, Guilherme – Podence, Valbuena, Masouras – Guerrero
It can be said that Krasnodar achieved a feat in the third qualifying round. They faced Porto and apart from fact that their opponent is a stronger team the Russians lost 1-0 at home. Everyone written them off after the 1st leg but Krasnodar excelled at the Dragao Stadium and after just over half an hour had a lead of unreal 0-3. They simply took advantage of all chances that the hosts gave them and created a huge advantage, which they stubbornly defended in the second half. They have received two goals but not the third one which would mean their elimination and here they are now one step away from the group stage of the Champions League.
Krasnodar plays very good in the Russian championship and were defeated only in the first round by Akhmat. After that they won four times and drew away with the reigning champion Zenit. They didn’t relax even before this important duel with Olympiacos and they defeated Tambov away 0-2 on Saturday. Manager Musaev had made several changes in the team, which was not felt, and he made the right move in the 2nd leg with Porto when he gave chance to young Suleymanov who later on scored two goals. Claesson and Gazinski are out of action due to injuries.
Probable lineups Krasnodar: Safonov – Petrov, Spajic, Martynovich, Ramirez – Kambolov, Vilhena, Cabella – Suleymanov, Wanderson – Berg
