Match Nishioka vs Goffin begins 16.08.2019 at 17:00 CET
Nishioka played the best two seasons ago when he reached the 58th place in the ATP rank list. He is young Japanese player who is 23 years old. Nishioka didn’t achieve expected results in two previous seasons and his rating is a bit weaker now; he occupies the 77th place in the ATP list. Before the tournament in Cincinnati Nishioka had negative win/loss ratio 11-14.
Nishioka won only one ATP title in previous three years and he did so at the tournament in Shenzhen last season when he defeated P. Herbert in the final. Nishioka made the first better result this season at the tournament in Sydney where he reached the quarter-finals after going through the qualifications where he lost to D. Schwartzman. After that he made just one noteworthy result and that was reaching the fourth round of the Masters in Indian Wells when he retired from match with M. Kecmanovic.
Goffin was frequent guests of our analyses in last couple of days and we have already went through his most important results so now we will focus on his previous match here in Cincinnati. His opponent was very tough French A. Mannarino who before the match didn’t lose a single set in Cincinnati.
Goffin needed one hour and 38 minutes to win the match 7-6, 6-1. It is clear from the result that the first set was the key for winning. Mannarino had chance in it to make much better result but the Belgian managed to escape critical situation and win the set in tie-break. After losing the first set Mannarino didn’t have motive and strength to try to turn the result up-side down. In accordance with the result almost all important statistical parameters were on Goffin side.
