New York Rangers vs. Colorado Avalanche / NHL – The Rangers didn’t start new season in the best possible way and their fans cannot be satisfied. After home defeat by Edmonton they will face Colorado, which plays well at the beginning of season and the home team will have anything but not easy task to stay undefeated. Colorado Avalanches currently occupies the fifth place in the Western Conference, while the Rangers are at mere 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
New York Rangers vs. Colorado Avalanche begins 17.10.2018 at 01:00 CET
New York Rangers
New York Rangers had finished the previous season at the 12th place and haven’t qualified for the play-off. They lost seven out of first eight games and they don’t play any better this season. Out of first five games they won just one and this is another bad start for them, which could cost them again the play-off. They opened the season with three consecutive defeats by Nashville, Buffalo and Carolina, and won the first game only in the fourth round.
The Rangers won San Jose Sharks at home after overtime 3-2. They were trailing behind even two times during the game but in the end they managed to turn the result up-side down and win. Still, they disappointed their fans in the following round. Despite playing in Madison Square Garden they lost to Edmonton 2-1. New York Rangers have started the new season with rejuvenated team and new head coach, who is David Quinn. It seems that Quinn needs more time to set the things right in the team as it plays below realistic capabilities since the beginning of season.
Unlike the Rangers Colorado Avalanches can be satisfied with the way how they opened new season. They won three out of first five games and are currently positioned in the upper half of standings. The season has just started and it is questionable will they be there at the end of regular season. Colorado waged a fierce battle for the last place that leads to the play-off last season. Although they lost four times in last five rounds of the regular season they have managed to end up at the eight place and qualify for the play-off.
Still, they lost to Nashville 4-2 in the first series. Their main objective this season is to reach the play-off and if they play how they did in first couple of rounds they shouldn’t have any problems to do so. In first two rounds played at home they won Minnesota and Philadelphia, and they lost for the first time to Columbus away. The Avalanches demolished Buffalo in the following game by 1-6, while in the previous round they lost at home to Calgary after overtime.
New York Rangers vs. Colorado Avalanche PICK
This is going to be the third home game in a row for the Rengers and they are definitely under pressure. Their fans expect a lot from new coach Quinn but it is questionable can this young team fulfil their expectations. Colorado goes on tour without much worries and that is its biggest advantage. Given they have showed more so far we would give a slight advantage to the guest team.
