Inter Milan vs Eintracht Frankfurt / Europa League – This is one of more interesting matches of the Europa League round of 16, although not many expected that outcome of the 1st leg played in Frankfurt will be 0-0 as Eintracht was very efficient before the match. Inter played on result but can be sorry for missed penalty. In the meantime both teams won in their respective league; Eintracht did it by sounder goal difference and it won away.
Inter Milan vs Eintracht Frankfurt begins 14.03.2019 at 21:00 CET
Inter was mostly in subordinate position in the 1st leg but in the end it hasn’t received a goal. That was their first objective although there is something to be sorry about as Brozovic missed a penalty around middle of first half. If Inter scored its job would be much easier since now they have to play riskier. Before going to Frankfurt they played two matches and won neither of them, although they were close to do so in Florence but they had to accept draw.
Inter underperformed in Cagliari and lost 2-1, which is why it was a bit more caution in Frankfurt. They won SPAL 2-0 last Sunday but it wasn’t an easy victory. Inter scored both goals only in the second half, although we have to add that manager Spalleti had made several changes in the team, probably to rest some players for this match. Asamoah and forward L. Martinez are suspended, which is problematic, Brozovic is injured and Nainggolan is questionable for the match.
Probable lineups Inter Milan: S. Handanovic – Cedric, de Vrij, Skriniar, D'Ambrosio – Valero, Vecino – Politano, Perisic, Candreva – Keita Balde
It is hard to say should Eintracht be happy or not with outcome of the first match but they definitely played an untypical match compared to what they showed in the larger part of season. They didn’t score at only three league matches and they scored in all European matches played so far, which is why those 0-0 is untypical result for them. Eintracht should be satisfied with the result since their opponent missed a penalty, or more precisely goalkeeper Trapp has defended the penalty kick, but they are a bit sorry for not crowning their dominance with a goal or even two. Rebic didn’t play and that left a mark, as the rest of Eintracht fantastic attacking trio didn’t handle the situation in the best possible way.
Haller and Jovic underperformed but we expect to play much better now. Haller played well on Monday when Eintracth won Fortuna 3-0 in Dusseldorf. He came off the bench 20 minute before the end and scored two goals in the very finish to seal Eintracth’s victory. Ever better Paciencia had made the first dent in the host’s armour and he might be a starter although Jovic is highly esteemed by manager Hutter, who must watch from the stands as he serves a one-game touchline ban.
Probable lineups Eintracht Frankfurt: Trapp – Hinteregger, Hasebe, Ndicka – da Costa, Gacinovic, Rode, de Guzman, Kostic – Haller, Jovic
Inter Milan vs Eintracht Frankfurt PICK
We don’t believe that we will see again the same result from the 1st leg. We expect to see goals in Milan; Inter will be more aggressive although won’t have classic striker, while Eintracht can be very dangerous from counter attacks. Our forecast is that we will see goals on both sides of the pitch.
