Golden State Warriors
After losing Game 1 of the final series the Warriors knew they had to change something in their game, first of all in defence. But the offensive game didn’t unfold as planned in the first half of Game 2 because they missed 20 out of first 28 shooting attempts from the field. However, in the second half they played as everyone expected from the reigning champions. The Warriors started the period started with 18-0 series (with which they set the new NBA Finals record for the beginning of second half), and they quickly came from 54-59 to 72-59.
They again played without Duranta, toll Looney got injured in the first part, while Thompson had to leave the court due to injury. The first information says that Looney could skip the following game (just as Durant), but Thompson assures that he will be ready. Iguodala played not fully ready but his points were key for the victory, while Green needed one more assists for the fourth consecutive triple-double.
Probable lineups Golden State Warriors: Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Green, Cousins
Last time we praised the Raptors for their team play with which they won the Warriors and how, besides Leonard, Siakam and Gasol were the main factors of victory. The Warriors recognised that too, and they stopped the two players with excellent defence and thus greatly increased their chances to win. After an incredible first game when his shooting was at 14/17 Siakam was stopped at 5/18, while Gasol scored only 6 points (2/7) and had great problems with recovered Cousins (11 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks).
Leonard and VanVleet were once again bright spots in their team but as we have said before, you have to have much better help from the rest of team in order to win the Warriors. The Raptors shouldn’t allow the Warriors to make such long series in the third quarter (they lost it by 21-34) and despite having 15 offensive rebounds which they mostly used to score the Raptors couldn’t win. The Warriors had two times more assistances (34-17) and through this parameter we see once again that the Raptors team play didn’t exist this time.
Probable lineups Toronto Raptors: Lowry, Green, Leonard, Siakam, Gasol
Golden State Warriors vs Toronto Raptors PICK
The Warriors are difficult to win if your shooting from the field is mere 37% and for three points only 29%. The Raptors learned that first hand, who will now play two difficult games in Oakland. They lost the home-field advantage with defeat in Game 2 and their priority is to make their own break and regain the advantage. The Warriors fans hope that Thompson (and perhaps Durant) will be in the team for Game 3 and that home ground will tip the scales in their favour, which is why Golden State is a slight favourite to win.
