FK Krasnodar – Real Sociedad – Even before the first leg we have predicted that this will be one of more interesting pairs of the play-off and it is really so, because the first match didn’t bring an advantage to favoured Real Sociedad. They played at home and won by 1-0, which very unpleasant Krasnodar is certainly able to equalise, who are still in very good shape, so on weekend they won again in the championship, while Real Sociedad was unexpectedly defeated at the start of La Liga. Begins: 28.08.2014 – 18:00 CET
Despite the defeat in the first leg it can be said that Krasnodar plays greatly and are in top form at the start of the season. Defeat in San Sebastian is the only this season and in that match were on equal footing with the Spanish team. They received the only goal 20 minutes before the end even though they could have made a better result. How are falling behind and haven’t scored a goal, which could be a problem, however, having in mind how Krasnodar played three league matches in between and all the others this season, they cannot be called outsiders.
They sent home Spartak with 4 goals in their net, while their rivals in the Europa League, Kalev and Diosgyor, had a similar fate. Krasnodar’s defence hasn’t conceded a goal at home, and in five rounds of the Russian championship had only once taken the ball out of their own net. They defeated Torpedo without problems in Moscow on Sunday by 3-0, although a modified team played, so the best one could get some rest before this rematch. Goalkeeper Dykan, stopper Granqvist, midfielder Izmailov and forwards Joaozinho and Ari have been resting, but all of them will ran on the pitch for this match.
Probable starting lineups Krasnodar: Dykan – Jedrzejczyk, Granqvist, Sigurdsson, Petrov – Akhmedov, Gazinskiy – Izmailov, Bystrov, Joaozinho – Ari
Real Sociedad's had no problems in the previous qualifying round winning Scottish Aberdeen both times, but now are waist deep in them. They somehow defeated Krasnodar at home and could be more than satisfied with that 1-0, as it is a very inconvenient result to equalise, however, it doesn’t mean that Real Sociedad can relax. They are not in a good shape and that showed the first championship match which they lost to the newcomer in La Liga, Eibar, by 1-0. They didn’t score a goal, and could easily receive even more if Zubikarai didn’t defend that well.
In comparison to the first match against Krasnodar, Zaldua de la Bella, Ruben Pardo and Chori Castro stayed on the bench. Recovered Vela had again come off the bench, while there is still no injured reinforcement in the attack Finnbogason. Stopper Ansotegi was also not in the team but coach Arass will likely again change the starting lineup and perhaps play with a more withdrawn formation with three defensive midfielders and M. Gonzalez on the stopper.
Probable starting lineups Real Sociedad: Zubikarai – Zaldua, M. Gonzalez, I. Martinez, de la Bella – Ruben Pardo, Bergara, Zurutuza – Vela, Xabi Prieto – Agirretxe
FK Krasnodar – Real Sociedad Pick
It's hard to say can Krasnodar eliminate objectively stronger Real Sociedad, but at home they can certainly create a lot of problems, and even defeat them. Results made this season prove that and that's why we believe this Real Sociedad can hardly win.
