Djokovic vs Dzumhur / ATP Paris – Djokovic and Dzumhur will meet in the 3rd round of the Paris Masters. Given his previous results and opponents that he had so far Dzumhur had made good results by mere qualification for the third round. Naturally, far more is expected from Djokovic, as besides winning the title Nole can again become World’s no. 1.
Djokovic vs Dzumhur begins 01.11.2018 at 11:00 CET
As the season progresses Djokovic plays better and better and now we can freely say that he is in shape similar to one from several seasons ago when he was absolute ruler of the ATP scene. By the end of season, and perhaps already here in Paris, Djokovic might return to the top position in the ATP rank list but that also depends from Nadal. Serbian winning streak has started in Toronto where he lost to S. Tsitsipas in the third round.
Since then Nole won18 consecutive matches which brought him three titles in a row. He won Masters in Cincinnati and Shanghai, and he also won the US Open and a bit earlier Wimbledon. Those are more than impressive results compared to modest beginning of this season. By the Paris Masters Nole’s win/loss ratio was 45-10, and he needs to make better results than Nadal to return at the top place in the ATP list.
This is somewhat disappointing season for Bosnian player. True, he made several good results like winning the tournament in Antalya but we expected more from him, especially in the first part of season when many favourites weren’t in the top form. Those bigger expectations were triggered with two titles won last year in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Dzumhur wasn’t even close to defend those titles this season but he partially made it up with excellent result on grass courts in Antalya, where he won A. Mannarin in the final. Defeates by A. Zverev, J.M. Del Potro, F. Fognini or R. Nadal cannot be considered as negative but he was definitely able to win E. Donskoy, J. Kovalik and E. Gerasimov. Due to those unexpected defeats his win/loss ratio this season is negative 23-30.
Djokovic vs Dzumhur PICK
Regardless that this will be the first match between the two players at ATP tournament we can say they know each other very well. There is no need to outline how Djokovic is a great favourite to reach the quarter-finals but many things in this match will depend from Dzumhur mood. It is fact that Dzumhur is one of those unpredictable players and when he is in good mood he can parry to everyone. It is very likely that this is the last match of the season for Dzumhur and the Bosnian has not to lose and can enjoy in chance to face one of best players in the world, and being not under pressure he might put up a bit stronger resistance.
