ATP Wimbledon / Djokovic vs Bautista-Agut – It turned out after the quarter-finals that Djokovic had the most difficult job so far against Polish H. Hurkacz when he lost one set. The quarter-final match with Goffin was a routine job for World’s no. 1, while his opponent in the semi-finals is Spaniard R. Bautista-Agut.
Match Djokovic vs Bautista-Agut begins 12.07.2019 at 14:00 CET
As we have said in the introduction Nole had no problem to pass obstacle called D. Goffin. Before the match the Belgian played quite well and had eliminated several players from whom was expected to make good results. In accordance with that we expected a bit better resistance to World’s no. 1 player and only six won games is result below the Belgian reputation.
Djokokovic played in accordance with his reputation, regardless that he had smaller problems in the first set when he lost his service game when the result read 3-3. In the following game Djokovic not only returned the lost game but he kicked into higher gear and won the set 6-4. Lost chance had shaken Goffin’s self-confidence and he won no games in the second set. The third set was a routine job for Nole as Goffin wasn’t anymore a worthy opponent that could put up a significant resistance.
Bautista-Agut had a good start of the season as he won the tournament in Doha where he defeated T. Berdych in the final. The Spaniard continued to play well at the Australian Open where he reached the quarter-finals when he lost to S. Tsitsipas. After Melbourne Bautista-Agut had a series of bit more modest results that lasted till the Masters in Miami where he reached another quarter-finals that he lost to J. Isner.
Since then he didn’t make a noteworthy result that could suggest that he will reach this far at Wimbledon. Still, we have to say that the Spaniard played well here in Wimbledon and has fully deservedly reached the semi-finals. At the same time this is the best result that Bautista-Agut has made at Wimbledon. He reached the fourth round two times and was defeated by R. Federer and M. Cilic. In the quarter-finals his opponent was Argentinean G. Pella who also made a kind of surprise but the Spaniard played well and his victory had never become questionable.
Betting Pick: Djokovic vs Bautista-Agut
There is no doubt that Djokovic is a great favourite to win the match but World’s no. 1 must maximally seriously approach to Bautista-Agut as he lost two times to him this season. We believe in Djokovic’s victory but we are of opinion that this could be an uncertain match, which is why we would play on counter handicap in number of won games.
