Dimitrov vs Verdasco 07.08.2018. – ATP Toronto

Dimitrov vs Verdasco / ATP TorontoThe first known couple of Masters in Torun are Bugarin G. Dimitrov and Spaniard F. Verdasco. In the previous stage of the competition, Verdasco has managed to defeat P. Gojowczyk without a lost set, while Dimitrov as the fifth seed of the tournament was free in the first round.

Dimitrov vs Verdasco begins 07.08.2018. at 23:00 CET.

G. Dimitrov

Dimitrov is playing very well this season. But we have to point out that he was a big disappointment in some matches when he played against objectively weaker opponents that he simply had to defeat, but he did not succeed. For this reason, his ratio of victories and defeats is 19:13. In his previous career Dimitrov has managed to win eight ATP titles, half of which last season.

So last season was the best in Dimitrova's career so far, and by the end of last year he took the 3rd position at the ATP rankings. During this season, Dimitrov has lost the aforementioned third position. He arrived at Masters in Toronto as the fifth player in the world. The best result of the season he had at the tournament in Rotterdam, where he won the finals. In which he was not a worthy opponent to Roger Federer. His second-best performance this year was at Australian Open, where he reached the quarterfinals in which he was stopped by K. Edmund.

F. Verdasco

Verdasco has been around 30th in ATP rankings for several recent seasons. Now, he has also come to Toronto as the 31st player of the world. This is far from his best rating in 2009 when he was at the 7th position at ATP ranking.  Verdasco has managed to win seven ATP titles in his career so far. Five of them on clay, and the last of them from 20016, from the tournament in Bucharest.

During the current part of the season, Verdasco has shown a very changeable form, and accordingly his ratio of wins and defeats is almost equal to 21:20. As we might have expected, Verdasco has achieved his best results this season on clay, and so he played the finals of the tournament in Rio de Janeiro. He was better than Diego Schwartzman, and he recently reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Bastad where he was defeated by Fabio Fognini.

Dimitrov vs Verdasco PICK

So far, these two players have played five mutual matches, which Verdasco solved in his favour three times, two of which took place this season. The bookies are giving a slight advantage to Dimitrov, but as we have already said, Verdasco has managed to already defeat the Bulgarian this season. All five games played so far have been completed after three sets. There is no reason not to expect the same this time, so the option with a large number of games seems quite realistic.
