Medvedv will start the grass-court season as World’s no. 53. The Russian had the best rating in his career one year ago when the occupied the 47th place in the ATP rank list. Medvedev won the first and only title in his career this season in Sydney where he had to go through the qualifications to reach the main draw, but nevertheless he went all the way till the final in which he defeated A. de Minaur by 2-1 in sets.
Before the tournament in Hertogenbosch Medvedev won 13 and lost 9 matches this season, and besides the said title, he made one of better results at the tournament in Rotterdam where he played in the quarter-finals and after a great battle and three sets he lost to A. Seppis. Most other tournaments ended for Medvedev in first two rounds, while on clay courts the second round out of reach.
Bhambri is 25-year old Indian player who at the moment occupies the 93rd place in the ATP list. He had the best rating in his career two months ago when he was World’ no. 83. Bhambri played this season mostly on lower ranked tournaments which is why his win/lose ratio at the ATP Tour is modest 4-9. The Indian hasn’t won an ATP title so far and he never played in a final match.
Bhabmri made the best result by far this season at the Masters in Indian Wells, where he had to go through the qualifications in order to reach the main draw, but nevertheless he made it till the third round when was stopped by Amercian S. Querey. The Indian made a bit weaker result at the Masters in Miami where he couldn’t go further than the second round when he lost to J. Sock. That was pretty much all what Bhambri has made this season at the ATP Tour.
