Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers / NBA – Boston Celtics continue to impress all NBA fans and their coach Brad Stevens proves that those who chose the coach of the year (Casey from Toronto, who was fired immediately after that) have made a big mistake. Boston won the Cavs in the first game of the series by sound 108-83 and took a lead 1-0 in the series that is played on four won games. Begins: 16.05.2018 – 02:30 CET
Regardless how much Boston fans believed in capacity of their team to play well it is certain that majority of them didn’t expect the Celtics can steamrolled the NBA vice-champions. The Celtics imposed their rhythm and after Q1 had +18 and by halftime sound +26. The Cavs could do much afterward and the first game in the series was resolved around the end of Q3. Even four Celtics’ starters had scored over 15 points (Brown 23, Horford 20, Morris 21 and Tatum 16).
Morris played a great game (before the start he stated that only he and Leonard from the Spurs can stop James) on both sides of the court. Rozir and Smart had together 14 assists (with Horford it 20 in total!), while the Celtics outplayed the Cavs in all aspects of the shooting from the field. The Celtics shooting from the field was over 51% (Cavs 36%), and they stopped the Cavs at miserable 15% for three points. With the victory the Celtics reached 8-0 at home in the play-off, which gives them an additional motive for the second game, which will be played also in the TD Garden.
Probable lineups Boston Celtics: Rozier, Brown, Tatum, Morris, Horford
Cleveland had disappointed its fans and is difficult to find a bright spot in their performances in the first game of the series. James wasn’t the first shooter of his team for the first time in the play-off (he scored 15 points and his shooting was 5/16), and he had even seven turnovers (in comparison in all four games with Toronto he lost ball possession just eight times). The Cavs didn’t shoot well and they missed 14 attempts for three-points. Simply, it couldn’t have been worse. Fact that the defeat will shake them up is encouraging and as it will them force to play more aggressively in the second game.
We saw what we forecast earlier, and that is when James doesn’t have a good day, than simply no one else has it too, or in other words other players don’t have capacity to lead the game. The Cavs didn’t use fact that coach Stevens has just eight players to rotate and that the Celtics are far more tired than they, which is why miserable shooting from the field (32%) was even more surprising.
Probable lineups Cleveland Cavaliers: Hill, Smith, Korver, James, Love
Boston Celtics – Cleveland Cavaliers PICK
Boston didn’t allow replay of last year’s final of the Eastern Conference, when they lost two home games to the Cavs. If order to increase the lead they need again good defence although James will be better motivated now, and it is almost impossible that the guests score again only 83 points.
Pick: over 202.5 points
Odds: 1.90 at williamhill (down to 1.83 can be played)
