Berty vs Vondrousova / WTA Roland Garros – In the final of women’s singles at the Roland Garros are Australian A. Berty and Czech M. Vondrousova. Both players are surprisingly got this far, which is especially true for young Vondrousova who is only 19-year old.
Berty vs Vondrousova begins 08.06.2019 at 15:00 CET
Berty is Australian player who before the Roland Garros occupied the 8th place in the WTA list. Berty won four WTA titles in her career so far out of which one this season at the Masters in Miami where she defeated K. Plisokova in the final 7-6, 6-3. She reached another final this season at the beginning of season in Sydney where she lost to P. Kvitova.
The final of Roland Garros is at the same time the best result of the Australian player on Grand Slams. Her previous best result was the quarter-finals of the Australian Open this season. In the semi-finals Bergy defeated American A. Anisimova 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. It is interesting that Berty was trailing behind in all three sets but she has managed to turn the result up-side down.
We wrote about Vondrousova’s results in our previous analysis when the young Czech faced J. Konta. We will pay more attention now to the semi-final match and say more about her statistic which could be relevant for the final match. Vondrousova won in a similar way as Berty. Under this we mean that she trailed behind in both sets as she lost her service games but she has managed to turn the result up-side down.
At the very beginning of match Vondrousova won her first service game and she did that again around middle of the set. Still, persistent Vondrousova managed to annul that by the end of set and even win it. In the second set Konta had a break point when the result read 5-4 and she served but Vondrousova made her break instead and the winner of the second set and match was decided in the tie-break. Vondrousova played a bit more defensively and she didn’t had large number of winner but as a consequence she made far less unforced errors.
Berty vs Vondrousova PICK
Berty won both previously played matches with Vondrousova. Neither of them was played on clay court and it wasn’t a great final like it is this one at the Roland Garros. There is no doubt that both players will do all they can to win the most valuable title in their careers. Psychological preparation will play a great role and we believe that uncertainty and larger number of games are what we are going to see.
