Berrettini vs Khachanov begins 13.06.2019 at 11:00 CET
Berrettini is one of younger Italian players who plays the best right this season. The Italian occupied the 30th place in the ATP rank list before the tournament in Stuttgart, which is at the same time the best rating in his career. In three previous years Berrettini won two ATP titles, out of which one this season at the tournament in Budapest, where he defeated F. Krajinovic in the final.
Right after that the Italian reached the final of ATP Munich where he lost to C. Garin. Regarding fast surfaces, Berrettini made the best result at the tournament in Sofia, where he reached the semi-finals when he lost to M. Fuscovics. Most other tournaments played this season ended for him in first two rounds, but his win/loss ratio this season is still positive 18-12.
Khachanov reached the best rating in his career right this Monday and right now he occupies the 9th place in the ATP list. The most deserving event for his new rating is recently finished Roland Garros where the Russian reached the quarter-finals in which he lost to D. Thiem. He made another noteworthy result at the Masters in Indian Wells where he reached the quarter-finals but was outplayed by R. Nadal after two tie-breaks.
Khachanov won four ATP titles in his six-year long professional carrier out of which even three last year when he won tournaments in Marseille, Moscow and Masters in Paris. Clearly, the Masters title from Paris is at the same time the most valuable title in his career. The Russian won 14 matches this season and lost 13. We need to add that he never appeared in Stuttgart before, and this season he has role of the 2nd seed.
Berrettini vs Khachanov PICK
The two players played only one head-to-head so far and that happened in Sofia this season, when Berrettini won 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. We can expect something similar this time as well. Grass surface provides fewer chances to make break and the two players are close enough match so we expect result uncertainty and larger number of games.
Pick: over 22.5 games
