Berdych vs. Krajinovic / ATP Montpellier – In addition to the tournament in Sofia, Europe is hosting another tennis tournament in Montpellier. The tournament is played on a hard ground and falls into the category of 250. Last year's winner of this tournament was L. Pouille, who defeated R. Gasquet in the final match. We will now analyse a quarterfinal match between the Czech T. Berdych and Serbian F. Krajinovic.
Berdych vs. Krajinovic begins 08.02.2019 at 12:00 CET
According to what we have seen in the previous part of the season, Berdych is slowly returning to the right form. We know that this Czech tennis player was absent a lot from the court in the past period, and this has disrupted his form and moved him away from the top of the ATP ranking. Berdych is currently in 79th place and his best career rating was in 2015 when he was the 4th player of the world.
So far, this Czech has managed to win 13 ATP titles, the last one being in 2016 from the tournament in Shenzhen. Berdych has won the most important title in 2005 when he became the winner of Masters in Paris. Berdych has started this season at the tournament in Doha, where he played the finals but lost from R. Bautista-Agut and showed a good game in the first three rounds of Australian Open, while he was completely outplayed by R. Nadal in the fourth round.
Krajinovic has played his best tennis two season’s ago and at the beginning of last season, when he achieved his best career rating, which is 26th position in the ATP rankings. However, that rating is much weaker now, so Krajinovic is currently on the 71st position of the ATP ranking. In the past ten years of his professional career, Krajinovic has failed to win any ATP titles despite being in one finals.
The aforementioned finals was played in 2017 at Masters in Paris, when he was better than J. Sock. We have to say that Krajinovic has missed a great opportunity to win a big title, given that he had against relatively easier opponent on the other side, who was not in a the best shape at the time. Since the beginning of this year, Krajinovic has only played at Australian Open, where he lost a third round’s match against B. Coric.
Berdych vs. Krajinovic PICK
This is the first duel between these two tennis players at the ATP Tour. It is clear that Berdych enjoys the role of a mild favourite, not only because of his results in the past, but also the results he has achieved during this season. Krajinovic is not without a chance in this match, but Berdych is playing better and we believe that, with a smaller handicap in the number of games won, he can get to the semi-finals of this tournament.
