Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt 11.04.2019 – Europa League

Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt / Europa League – This could be a very interesting duel. It is hard to tell who might be a favourite; Benfica has more experience in Europe, while Eintracht showed more this season. The team from Frankfurt is in better shape right now given its long unbeaten streak. Benfica osciallates and had problems in previous two rounds of the knockout phase. This is going to be the first match between Benfica and Eintracht in European competitions.

Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt begins 11.04.2019 at 21:00 CET

Benfica oscillates with its form lately and cannot manage to make a longer victorious series. They played in the group phase of the Champions League this season but they had ended at the third place that led to the Europa League where they eliminated Galatasaray in the round of 32 after a solid dose of trouble. It was even more complicated in the round of 16 when they faced Dinamo Zagreb to which they lost 1-0 away, however, they won at home after extra time and went further, but in between those two matches Benfica dropped two valuable points in the Portuguese Liga NOS.

They had a lead of 2-0 against Belenenses but the match ended as 2-2 draw, which spoiled joy after winning Porto away. Right now Benfica has three-game winning streak in the Liga NOS and continues to fight with Porto for the title. Benfica was eliminated from the Cup after losing to city rival Sporting 1-0 in the semi-finals. Their handicap for the match is suspension of forward Jonas, while Gabriel and Conti are injured.

Probable lineups Benfica: Vlachodimos – Almeida, Dias, Ferro, Grimaldo – Fejsa, Pizzi, Florentino, Cervi – J. Felix, Seferovic

Eintracht Frankfurt

The whole season is good for Eintracht except perhaps the very beginning when they were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal in which they were title defenders. As the season nears its end Eintracht plays better and better. It has a firm hold over the fourth place that leads to the Champions League, while it played excellently in the Europa League from the beginning. Eintracht didn’t lose a single match in the second part of season and it played 15 in total. Four of them were Europa League matches where they eliminated after draw and victory Shaktar and Inter, teams which played in the Champions League this season and which weren’t easy opponents at all.

The group phase of the Europa League is a story for itself as Eintracht won all six matches. In the Bundesliga they have six-game winning streak and 11-game unbeaten streak. That is why it is no wonder they occupy the fourth place that leads to the Champions League and have four points more than the 5th-placed team. The last match they won was against Schalke away but we have to say they were lucky given they scored the winning for the final 2-1 from penalty deep in the added time. Hinteregger and de Guzman are questionable for the match so there could be changes in the starting line-up.

Probable lineups Eintracht Frankfurt: Trapp – Abraham, Hasebe, Ndicka – da Costa, Gacinovic, Rode, G. Fernandes, Kostic – Rebic, Jovic

Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt PICK

Benfica is not in the top shape lately but it is always dangerous when playing at home and we believe that will dominate the match. On the other hand very good Eintracht didn’t lose for a very long time and it will certainly not limit itself on defence in Lisbon, so we expect to see goals on both sides of the pitch.
