Belgium vs. Netherlands 16.10.2018 – International

Belgium vs. Netherlands / International – There is strong neighbouring rivalry between Belgium and Netherlands but this time the two teams will play friendly after well done job in the League of Nations. Belgium won both so far played matches and is on its way to win the first place in the group. The Dutch weren’t that successful given they lost to France but on the other hand they soundly won Germany several days ago. The two teams mostly play friendly in recent years, where the one from 2016 had ended as 1-1 draw.

Belgium vs Netherlands begins 16.10.2018 at 20:45 CET

The biggest part of the job is finished for Belgium and they will use this gathering for a friendly with the Dutch. At the first glance the match bears no significance, however, there is big rivalry between the two national teams and victory is important for both of them for reinforcing self-confidence and proving who is better at the moment.

Belgium seems better right now in all parameters as it is the first in FIFA rank list and it won the third place at the World Cup. It also won both League of Nations matches, as well as friendly with Scotland. They easily won Iceland away 3-0 in the first round but nothing went easily against Switzerland in Basel. The guests were close to pull a draw but Lukaku was again hero of the match, this time with two goals, where the second one was scored just six minutes before the end. Vertonghen and de Bruyne are not invited and manager Martinez will probably make new changes in the starting line-up compared to match with Switzerland.

Probable lineups Belgium: Courtois – Boyata, Alderweireld, Kompany – Meunier, Fellaini, Tielemans, Chadli – T. Hazard, E. Hazard – R. Lukaku (Batshuayi)

The Dutch weren’t even close as successful as their hosts and it can be said that they swapped roles in last couple of years, but it can be also noticed that the Netherlands is slowly but surely returning where it objectively belongs. They skipped two previous major competitions, however, they showed their character in the League of Nations. True, they were defeated 2-1 in France at the beginning of competition cycle but they put up solid resistance to reigning champions of the world. They shined on Saturday in the second round when they defeated another great rival Germany 3-0 in Amsterdam.

The match reminded on good old Netherlands that used belong to the very top of world’s football, where they definitely want to return. Since Ronald Koeman took over the team the Dutch lost minimally to England and France and have defeated reigning champion of Europe, Portugal and former champions of the world, the Germans. Koeman has refreshed the team with several new players and Dumfries replaced Tete against Germany, while de Roon, and Bergwijn got chance too. Now, he will surely shuffle the deck even more for match with Belgium.

Probable lineups Netherlands: Zoet – Hateboer, de Vrij, de Ligt, Blind – Vilhena, Strootman – Bergwijn, Wijnaldum, Promes – Jong

Belgium vs. Netherlands PICK

The Belgians are stronger and better team but the Dutch have finally pulled themselves together and we believe that can be an equal opponent. We expect that the Belgians made number of changes in the starting line-up which the guests might use to at least score one goal.
