Belgium vs. Costa Rica / International – This match is the third and last test for both teams before going to Russia. In first two that it also played at home Belgium won one and drew another match, while the Costa Ricans outclassed Northern Ireland 3-0 at home but lost the second match to England away. The Belgians have five-game unbeaten streak, while Costa Rica mostly loses lately as it lost five out of previous seven. The match is good test for Belgium before facing Panama, while Costa Rica faces Serbia in the first round of the 2018 World Cup. Begins: 11.06.2018 – 20:45 CET
The Belgians can be satisfied with results of two test matches that were part of last preparations for the World Cup and they expect that the third one go as expected. The first test was the toughest and Portugal was a good opponent, so the match ended as goalless draw. Second opponent was Egypt and it was expected that Belgium will dominate, which was exactly what happened, given that Egypt played without its greatest star.
Manager Martinez obviously has vision how the Belgians should play at the World Cup and after drew with Portugal he didn’t change much the starting line-up. Stopper Kompany is injured and was replaced by Ciman, while in the midfield Witsel played instead of Dembele. They won by 3-0 and it was the fourth game in a row in which they hadn’t received a goal. Now, perhaps Martinez make new changes in the team and Fellaini, Batshuayi and Boyata get chance to play from the first minute.
Probable lineups Belgium: Courtois – Alderweireld, Boyata, Vertonghen – Meunier, Fellaini, de Bruyne, Carrasco – Mertens, E. Hazard – Batshuayi
The Costa Ricans had played the first test match at home and the opponent was tailor made. Northern Ireland hasn’t qualified for the World Cup and didn’t play with the strongest team, which Costa Rica maximally used and won 3-0, while its fans were euphoric before setting sail for Europe. Still, the Costa Ricans planned two stronger tests before the World Cup and it was very different against England in Leeds compared to match with the Irish. The lost by 2-0 and were expectedly in subordinate position as the English were better team.
The received one goal at the beginning of match and another in its finish, despite they logically played more defensively than against Northern Ireland. Goalie Navas was at the goal although he left the first match as well as some other changes. Acoste and O. Duarte didn’t play, while one of the team’s biggest star B. Ruiz had stayed on the bench. He could now be the starter, just like above-mentioned O. Duarte. It is possible that the starting 11 be the same like the one that is planned to face Serbia.
Probable lineups Costa Rica: Navas – Gamboa, Gonzalez, O. Duarte, Oviedo – Guzman, Borges – J. Campbell, Venegas, B. Ruiz – Urena
Belgium – Costa Rica PICK
The Belgians want to test their abilities and say goodbye to their fans with victory, although they may not play with the strongest team. Their goal scoring abilities are undisputed and the Belgians will surely score a goal or two but this time they will most likely receive a goal by themselves and the match should be efficient one.
