Anadolu Efes vs Fenerbahce Beko 17.05.2019 – EuroLeague

Anadolu Efes vs Fenerbahce Beko / EuroLeague – This year’s EuroLeague Final Four will take place in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. Two Turkish teams, Efes and Fenerbahce, will play the first semi-final match. What can be expected for sure is hellish atmosphere, which Turks often make, and many believe that both teams have similar chance to reach the final.

Anadolu Efes

After a great series against Barcelona and total victory 3-2 Efes again reached the Final Four, where it hadn’t been since 2000. They ended the regular season at the fourth place with score 20-10, which was a huge progress compared to the previous season when they had just 7-23. Coach Ataman has chance to become the third coach ever who won the EuroLaegue and EuroCup (he won the latter with Galatasaray in 2016).

Efes scored even 63 three-pointers in five games against Barcelona (out of 158 attempts) and if they continue to shoot like that Fener will not have an easy time. Efes has excellent pick’n’rolle play where Micic has the main role (3rd assistant in the league), but as a team they play run and gun basketball with large number of fast attacks and even faster shooting. Larkin was the best player in the quarter-finals with 19.6 points per game on average, while as a team, we are talking about offensive statistic, they don’t show much oscillations, although it defence is a bit weaker.

Probable lineups Anadolu Efes: Beaubois, Larkin (Micic), Simon, Moerman, Dunston

Fenerbahce Beko

Fenerbahce starts every competition as one of favourites to win but it comes to the Final Four significantly weakened. Out of action due to injuries are Lauvergne and Datome, which is a great handicap, while according to announcements not fully recovered Vesely and Kalinic should be in the team. That will have a significant impact on Fenerbahce frontcourt, although team led by Zeljko Obradovic must always play to win.

Obradovic won nine titles of European Champions and this is going to be the 18th Final Four in his career (the same as CSKA Moscow but as a team!). He will try to reach his 13th final, but due to above mentioned injuries he is forced to combine and often ends up using small ball. This Fenerbahce team is the second best shooter for three-points in the history of EuroLeague and is the best in the league in shooting for two points (58.9%). They ended up the regular season as the best team, score 25-5, while in the quarter-finals they eliminated Zalgiris by 3-1 in the series.

Probable lineups Fenerbahce Beko: Sloukas, Muhammed, Guduric, Melli, Vesely (Duveriouglu)

Anadolu Efes vs Fenerbahce Beko PICK

The two teams met two times in the EuroLeague this season and home teams won each time. Fener won the first game 84-66, while after that Efes did the same 89-83. The end result will largely depend from team with which Fenerbahce will start the game and it capacity to slow down Efes. Still, having in mind of coach Obradovic wisdom and unwritten rule that guard Sloukas never losses semi-final games we give a slight advantage to Fenerbahce.
