1. FC Heidenheim v Arminia Bielefeld – One interesting fact ahead of the first round of the 2. Bundesliga match between Heidenheim and Arminia, in last five round of previous championship these two teams recorded exact same results, in exact same order, two victories, two draws and one lost game. Still, their final placement was different, Arminia finished on fourth position and Heidenheim took 13th place, but only with six points less. Their both mutual duels last season finished with draw.
1. FC Heidenheim v Arminia Bielefeld begins 05.08.2018. at 15:30 CET.
1. FC Heidenheim
It is hard to say how much can Heidenheim do during this season, but it seems pretty real that they will once again finish in the lower part of the table. previous season was also one modest performance with a lot of problems, although they were never at one of the last two position that leads to lower rank, but they did spend a lot of time being at the position that brings them to the playoffs for staying in second league. In the end they got away from that, mostly thanks to points they won at home games since they were very weak in away games and they only won two such games.
One might say that they played in good-bad series, and in this new season they have same coach to lead them Frank Schmidt, who is with them for more than ten years. Their best scorer from last season John Verhoek left them, and the biggest reinforcement for them is young midfielder Niklas Dorsch who will probably be at the starting lineups right away. The rest of the starting lineups is pretty much the same proven team, and for now stopper Beermann will be off the field.
Probable lineups Heidenheim: Ke. Muller – Busch, Wittek, Theuerkauf, Feick – Dorsch, Griesbeck – Schnatterer, Dovedan, M. Thiel – Thomalla
Good start and good finish of last season for Arminia, and all in the middle was full of oscillation, so the team from Bielefeld was even the leader on the table for a moment, and their worst placement was when they were at 10th place. In the very end they finished as fourth and it might seem like they were close to position that leads to playoffs for upper ranks, however they had even eight points less than Kiel and really, they were not even close to third place. They kept their coach Saibene who will now lead them to new season with a hope that this time they might make this extra step.
Also, they kept first scorer Voglsammer, but midfielder Kerschbaumer left after his loan from Brentford expired. Some other players left as well but team also brought some new names, such as midfielder Massimo from Stuttgart, but he is only here on loan. He should be in starting lineups right away, same as Brunner on the right side, who came from Zurich. There are some other interesting new names, like attacker Schipplock or Edmundsson who, for the moment, will wait for his chance on the bench, same as Seufert from K'lautern and Christiansen from Ingolstadt.
Probable lineups Arminia: Ortega – C. Brunner, Behrendt, Borner, Hartherz – Massimo, Prietl, Schutz, Staude – Klos, Voglsammer
1. FC Heidenheim v Arminia Bielefeld PICK
