Vancouver Canucks vs Colorado Avalanche 03.01.2017 – NHL

Vancouver Canucks vs. Colorado Avalanche / NHL We didn’t analyse these two teams for a long time. Vancouver and Colorado are positioned in lower part of the Western Conference standings and if they don’t drastically improve their performances they can hardly make better their positions. Vancouver has recently improved it play and at the moment it has streak of three wins behind it, while on the other hand Colorado is the worst team in its conference and occupies the last position. Begins: 03.01.2017 – 04:00 CET

Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver had ended previous season at the next-to-last position in the Western Conference. Their main objective this season is to reach the play-off. The Canucks had a great start of new season when they won first four games, however, they played much weaker in the season continuation and lost next nine games. No one had a clue what is going in with Vancouver which played so well in first four rounds. The negative series was stopped after away game in New York against the Rangers. Since then the Canucks plays in hot&cold rhythm. After one good game they mandatory lost in the next round.

Great problem for this team is playing away. They are by far the worst visiting team in the Western Conference. Out of 18 such games they won just five. In previous round they won Edmonton away and in that way ended series of four visiting defeats in a row. On the other hand the Canucks are a lot more successful when play at home. They are fifth best home team with 12 wins out of 20 games. After two defeats in a row Vancouver had linked three consecutive victories and is in a good mood ahead of this game. Before the latest victory over Edmonton, they won at home the Kings and Anaheim.

Colorado Avalanche

Colorado didn’t reach the play last season due to bad results. They ended the regular season at the ninth position, right behind Minnesota. They had lost the last six games, which was the main reason why they ended up as ninth. Although it was expected that will participate this year in the race for the play-off Colorado plays much worse than previous season. They are the last positioned team and have just 25 points. After 36 games they have 15 points fewer than Los Angeles Kings, who are eight in the standings, and can forget the play-off.

It is hard to expect that Colorado will make a longer winning streak in the season continuation that would put them closer to the upper part of the standings. How badly they play this season can be illustrated by fact that out of 18 last games they won just three. It is interesting that all three victories were won away; they won Boston, Toronto and Chicago just four rounds ago. That was a big surprise as the Blackhawks were great favourite in that game. However, Colorado played one of better games this season and won after overtime. However, they failed to repeat similar play in next three games and they lost all three of them.

Vancouver Canucks – Colorado Avalanche PICK

Vancouver is currently in a much better shape than Colorado, which cannot reach the desired form. Only one victory in last nine games is the best proof how badly they play recently. In previous three rounds the Canucks won respectable teams and we don’t believe that Colorado can make problems to them in this game.
