Udinese vs. Inter Milano / Serie A – Two old rivals will meet in the first Sunday’s match of the 19th round of Italian Serie A. Both teams play better and better recently; Udinese moved up to the 10th place in standings after series of three wins and one draw, while on the other hand Inter has a streak of three wins and is positioned three places above Udinese. Besides, the Nerazzurri had won three previous matches against the team from Udine, and were especially good last year when they won away by even 4-0. Begins: 08.01.2017 – 12:30 CET
Of course, that should be only an additional motive for the home team to revenge to Inter for last year’s debacle, especially as they won two previous matches played at their Friuli; against Bologna 1-0 and Crotone 2-0. In between those two matches they also triumphed against Atalanta away 3-1, while before the Christmas and New Year break they remained undefeated in Genoa where they played a goalless draw with Sampdoria.
Experienced coach Delneri is mostly deserved individual for Udinese’s revival. He took over the team at the beginning of October in situation when Udinse were in the drop zone. Under his command they won five, drew three and lost two out of 10 matches and moved up at the 10th place in the standings. Udinese has at the moment 15 points more than 18th Palermo. Regarding problems with the team ahead of the match against Inter, due to injury out of action is only stopper Heurtaux, while in the meantime stopper Wague and midfielder Badu have left for the African Cup of Nations.
Probable lineups Udinese: Karnezis – Widmer, Danilo, Felipe, Samir – Jankto, Fofana, Kums – de Paul, Zapata, Thereau
We have said in the introduction that the guests from Milan are also in a great shape ahead of duel with Udinese. Inter won four previous matches, where the home victory over Sparta Prague in the Europa League didn’t help much given they had lost chance before to reach the knockout phase. In the championship, with three consecutive victories they have made a great step toward positions that lead to Europe, and now they occupy the seventh place in the standings, having just three points fewer than fifth-placed Milan, while third Napoli has just five points more.
Coach Pioli’s players had won those three last victories with a clean sheet; they firstly won Genoa at home 2-0 and before this break Lazio by 3-0, while in between those two matches had squeezed in victory away over Sassuolo 1-0. Right because of that we believe that Pioli will not change much in tactic and formation for the match against Udinese. Out of action are only two midfielders, Medel who is injured and Melo who is suspended.
Probable lineups Inter Milan: Handanovic – D’Ambrosio, Murillo, Miranda, Ansaldi – Brozovic, Joao Mario – Candreva, Banega, Perisic – Icardi
