St.Johnstone vs Glasgow Rangers 28.12.2016. – SCO Premier League

St.Johnstone vs. Glasgow Rangers / SCO Premier League – This is the derby of the round in the Scottish Cup, given that the host of this duel is in fifth place in the standings, while the Rangers are in second place. However, the difference is huge, considering that the guests have as many as 11 points more, but their problem is that the leader and a great city rival Celtic has even 14 points before this round. Both teams are undefeated in the last four duels, with the proviso that St.Johnstone celebrated twice and twice played a draw, while the Rangers achieved four wins. In their first this season's mutual duel in Glasgow, these rivals played a draw with 1-1. Begins: 28.12.2016. – 20:45 CET

At the beginning of the season, St.Johnstone was having problems with the form and in the first four rounds, they celebrated only once but have fallen to the bottom of the table, and then managed to stabilize and climb up to fourth place. They are now for some time in fifth place and they are in one pretty positive series of four matches without defeat. Interestingly, St.Johnstone is playing better away, even though they achieved the same goals at home. The guests still have one victory more and only one defeat which happened against weak Inverness, which is say before this round in last place.

They returned the favour to Inverness at home and defeated them with 3-0, and that was actually the start of their positive series which continued with two draws, first against Aberdeen away, and then at home against Motherwell. In the last round they celebrated away against Kilmarnock with 1-0. Coach Wright has made changes in the composition lately. Shaughnessy has returned in the last round at the position of center-back, midfielder Coulson was not in the team because of injury, so Alston jumped instead, while MacLean was not in atack and Swanson played instead. It is possible that there will not be any changes in the starting lineup.

Probable lineups St.Johnstone: Clark – Foster, Anderson, Shaughnessy, Easton – Davidson, Millar, Alston, Wotherspoon – Swanson, Kane

Glasgow Rangers

The Rangers were approximately at the position that was expected, and this is second place just behind their big city rival Celtic. Given that this is a comeback season for the Rangers, there was no objective to immediately engage in the fight for the championship and for that they will have to wait at least until the next season. This will probably end with them in second place, because Celtic celebrated away with as many as 14 points, and their first companion is six points behind before this round. At home the Rangers are expectedly much better and still they were not defeated, but they played three draws.  In the first seven rounds, the Rangers did not play well and they were only seventh in the table, but they are now in a series of nine matches without defeat and the last six matches have been solved in their favour, and only defeat in the semi-finals of the League Cup interfered between this, again by Celtic with 1-0.

After St.Johnstone, they will have a new derby and they will try to retaliate for the heavy defeat of 5-1, which they experienced by Celtic at the beginning of September. It is interesting that no one stands out when it comes to achieving goals, and coach Warburton is not changing the lineup too much lately. After the victory against Hamilton when Waghorn was the hero with two goals, center-back Wilson remained on the bench, so Hill played instead. Kranjcar and Rossiter were absent due to injury, and it is possible that there will be no more changes in the team.

Probable lineups Glasgow Rangers: Foderingham – Hodson, Klernan, Hill, Wallace – Tavernier, Halliday, Holt – McKay, Waghorn, Garner

St.Johnstone vs. Glasgow Rangers PICK

St Johnstone isp laying quite well this season, but they did not really shine at home. Rangers are therefore the favourites, but we must not forget that St.Johnstone brought one point from Glasgow this season and they will not surrender at home without a big fight. Therefore, we expect goals on both sides of the field.
